We…All Of Us

Let me start this post by emphatically stating that I am a Christian. I know that many of you reading this will say that what I believe is against God and the like but I assure you that it is not. I believe that God is the one true God. And I also believe that, as the Bible says, God loves all His children.

So now to the point of this post. On the news recently, I saw a church group protesting yet another veteran’s funeral. The veteran was killed in action and died honorably serving his country. So why did they choose to protest at his funeral? He was gay. He was sexually attracted to members of the same sex. And this is not a singular occurrence. Scenes like this pay out every day across the country. It isn’t just veterans either. It’s teacher, students, priests, Congressmen, boys and girls, women and men. People of all backgrounds, races and religions, signaled out and attacked because of their sexual orientation.

This country has a problem. And it must be solved. We cannot go on hurting each other and putting each other down just because3 we are different. We, as neighbors, as Americans, as humans, must learn to co-exist. Because if we don’t, we will never be able to move forward.

  1. Hi,
I too am Christian and I agree that the Christian community does isolate gay people to a certain extent. I myself do not judge those who are homosexual and I have many friends who are gay. If God told us to love are neighbors as we love ourselves, then why do we treat gay people differently? Do we detest ourselves?
